Phase 3 broadened my skills of organization. I have learned how to organize my writing regarding paragraphs and how to convey my message through each paragraph. During this phase, I used paragraphs in my writing that could help my peers understand my work better. As in phase 1, it may be noticeable that I didn’t have a clue on how to write an organized piece. I used my own words & ideas that expressed my opinion while also providing the facts. I learned that to write formally I have to be consistent with my ideas and look at a thesaurus.

I noticed that in Phase 2, I couldn’t quite grasp the topic of rhetorical situations, but in Phase 3, I figured out how to use a little more than logos, pathos, and ethos. I figured that since I wrote my paper in Phase 2, I owe it to myself to be more thorough when writing especially for research purposes. I learned how to skim and read scholarly articles. I grew a fondness for reading when I realized that it’s not so boring when you are looking for facts. I learned more about google scholar and I used citations in my work for the first time. I enjoyed reading in the research genre because I had the ability to learn while reading.

I appreciated writing for my audience, people who enjoy reading formal language, because they wouldn’t throw my essay to the side, but maybe give me tips on how to improve my writing. I like an audience that critiques my work without sugarcoating the realities of my writing. My writing has become sacred because I usually don’t like to write, but if I can write in a storytelling, formal fashion, then I would write pages and pages. My perspective of language is a bit different than where I come from because in my household my mom usually talks in a formal language and she would teach me to talk in the same way, but once I got older, it started to change. Starting middle school, I learned what different slang words are and how others in my community prefer to speak. I adapted that language and can’t seem to escape it. Realizing this, helped me “explore and analyze, in writing and reading, a variety of genres and rhetoric strategies.
